We have at last moved.
We are now situated in Anson House, Coventry Airport
West. I must say myself that the new premises and
facilities are a vast improvement on what we have
had to endure over the past few years.
I thank all members, relatives and friends who have
stuck with us through this period. Come along and
have a look, I know you will be impressed.
Check out the photo’s
on the site to give you a flavour of the premises.
There are a few jobs still to do. Signage to the
front and rear of the building etc. Improve the car
park.
The move is only 50 yards from the hanger.

ON THE MOVE
As quite a few members already know Almat are on the
move again. Works are in progress in the G.A.T. (general
aviation terminal) just a few yards from where we
are now. It is hoped that they will be completed by
the end of June 2007. They consist of better offices,
better accommodation all round. It is anticipated
that we will host an open week-end (Friday to Sunday)
to celebrate the move.
Almat apologise in advance for any inconvenience
that may be caused due to the move. It should be
completed in a short time, preferably during the
week. I and all the Almat staff look forward to
meeting existing, new and lapsed members. Any new
members are also welcome.
We have acquired a few more aircraft for hire and
training. Take a look at them on the web site.
See you all soon
Glynn

Flying in the USA (Form SRG\1160)
A note to anyone intending to obtain a FAA licence
when taking a flying holiday in the USA.
Amongst other requested items, it is essential to
include form SRG\1160 from the C.A.A when applying
for your FAA licence. If you don't then your application
process will stop and neither the F.A.A. nor the C.A.A.
will tell you about it! This will only become apparent
when it is too late.
The C.A.A advised it was related to the Data Protection
Act. There is a box on the form entitled "Agreement
for Release of Information" which needs to be
signed by the applicant and there is a £16 fee
to pay!
The form, SRG\1160 can be downloaded from the C.A.A.
site by typing in the form reference in the search
box and then clicking on the link.
If this is to be your first trip to the U.S.A., apply
in plenty of time and check both the F.A.A. and C.A.A.
sites for the information rather than relying on other
sources.
Aerobatic trial lessons.
Glynn has sourced a Pitts special aerobatic aircraft
for the clubs use on selected dates. For those interested
an aerobatic course will be available. Costs to be
negotiated, watch this space. Or, as it is a tail
dragger, conversions will also be available.
G-BAHF Re-spray
G-BAHF has now been re-sprayed and looks good. The
next step is to replace some of the avionics to include
a Garmin 430 GPS system. Shares are available in the
aircraft. Speak to Glynn for further information.
Membership Card & Photo
The equipment to process the new membership
cards has now arrived. Once it has been installed
on the computer Glynn will start to issue your cards.
Sorry for the delay. Glynn will need to take a photo
of you so that it can be put onto your card. If you
have an electronic photo (head and shoulders)e-mail
it to him as this will save time. Otherwise the photo
will be taken on your next visit to the club.
If you send your photograph by an e-mail attachment,
please include your name and membership number in

Going to Corfu on holiday?
If you are booked to travel on the large bird from the
UK to Corfu, how would you like to consider flying something
smaller but very recognisable whilst there?
The Corfu Aeroclub will be able to assist!
They are unfortunately unable to rent out an aircraft
to you "Its a matter of rules" but they will
try to satisfy all those who want to fly over Corfu
- especially Pilots!
So if you would like to fly, a club pilot will be on
board as a co-pilot and the aircraft available is a
C172 (GR-BOMS perhaps?) Skyhawk (Extra power 190HP)
with full equipment.
Corfu Aeroclub operate from Corfu International Airport
(www.hcaa-eleng.gr/kerk.htm)
so there's plenty of space. As always there is of course
one drawback of which we are all familiar - Thompson
Boeings!
Cost? I have been quoted 200Euro /hour. This will increase
in May due to the European Union regulation on insurance.
